We’re looking for a Senior Director of Engineering to join our growing team. As Lucky Orange’s new Senior Director of Engineering, you’ll be a part of our leadership team helping to drive the vision for our product and company. You’ll lead our engineering team, helping to mentor team members to grow their abilities. You’ll find ways to motivate your team to accomplish important goals and will have a hands-on role in product development. This role requires an individual who enjoys keeping up to date on the latest technology and software development trends and finding ways to incorporate them into existing products. 

What’s a day in the life like?

Putting customers first is always our priority, but we’re known for having a relaxed, playful environment at Lucky Orange. On a typical day, you’ll find our team members helping customers, devising growth strategies, writing code and working with partners. We’re a work family that likes to take time to get to know one another better, challenge each other to a round of Mario Party or Super Smash Bros and recognizing one another for a job well done.

As the newest Senior Director of Engineering, your day will likely include:

  • considering the technical feasibility of proposed engineering projects and approaches by evaluating the proposal’s scalability, sustainability, architectural components and technical debt
  • working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to refine and scope project requirements
  • reinforcing high engineering quality standards by establishing best practices and performing code reviews
  • designing technical systems 
  • leading quality assurance, network, data and security policies 
  • providing input on resource and staffing requirements needed to accomplish team and company-wide initiatives 
  • evaluating project progress and quality and stepping in to help as needed to ensure on-time delivery 

 

What does it take?

  • 8+ years of experience in application development
  • 8+ years of experience using Javascript and Node.js
  • 5+ years coaching and managing teams
  • Experience working on SaaS platforms, preferably for B2B users
  • Experience building product integrations and app marketplace integrations
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Willingness to openly and proactively communicate about status of ongoing engineering projects with teams across the company
  • Familiarity with team collaboration and communications platforms like Notion, Slack and Basecamp
  • Ability to work in a (relaxed) office setting in Overland, Park, Kan., during typical working hours (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.), Monday through Friday.
  • On-call work as needed when customer-facing technical issues arise

  • Demonstrated ability to lead positive change and empower team members
  • Experience with technologies such Elasticsearch and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with modern javascript frameworks such as Vue.js
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and help with complicated code
  • Experience with platforms like Shopify, BigCommerce, Square and HubSpot
  • Experience with machine learning and AI
  • Familiarity with “Shape-Up”  development process
  • Use or are familiar with Lucky Orange software or other conversion rate optimization (CRO) tools
